The Spa Bridlington welcomes Hull Philharmonic Orchestra for a Sunday afternoon Coastal Classics concert on 1 March at 3pm.

The orchestra will play a repeat of programme being performed at Hull City Hall on 28 February.

With the orchestra’s musical director Andrew Penny conducting, it will feature soloist Callum Smart, and Crispin Rolfe, of Look North, who is normally a horn player in the orchestra who will present the concert.

Another player, first violin Anthony Clarke who is a Bridlington GP, is recommending it to the local community.

“I have played with the Hull Philharmonic since its 125th anniversary in 2006 and regard it as the best orchestra I have ever belonged to,” said Dr Clarke.

“It has a talented group of players including professional music teachers and I hope this is the start of regular visits to the Spa.”

The Hull Philharmonic played at the Spa last June at the Yorkshire International Business Convention and has also played away in the Malcolm Arnold Festival in Northampton and for special events in York and Leeds.

The full programme is: Holst, Jupiter from The Planets; Smetana, Moldau from Ma Vlast; Prokofiev, Dance of the Knights; Bruch, Violin Concerto; Bernstein, Candide Overture; Gounod, Judex from Mors et Vita; Mussorgsky, Great Gate of Kiev; Saint-Saens, Danse Macabre; Tchaikovsky, Marche Slave.

Advance tickets costing from £7.50 to £10 for adults (concessions apply) are available from the box office on 01262 678258 or online at www.thespabridlington.com and www.hullphilharmonic.org.
